The Coordinating Group of the PhD program in Education in the Contemporary Society is pleased to share the details of the first self-organized seminar promoted by ESC PhD students:

You can think otherwise. You must do otherwise - Seminar for the centenary of Franco Basaglia's birth

On the occasion of the centenary of Franco Basaglia's birth, the PhD students in Education in the Contemporary Society are organizing a self-managed seminar to reflect on the intellectual and social legacy of the famous psychiatrist. This event aims not only to celebrate Basaglia, but also to address the profound transformations that his vision has brought about in the educational and mental health landscape, opening up spaces for reflection on the future of educational and therapeutic practices. The seminar aims to be a unique opportunity to reflect on and renew Basaglia's radical and current message, proposing work and research practices that not only question the present but also open up utopian and transformative perspectives.

The program will explore themes such as diagnosis and marginalization, inequalities, norms and deviance, languages and institutions, analyzing how these dimensions influence the experiences of different subjectivities within social structures. The seminar will see among the guests: Brigata Basaglia, Mauro Muscio and Gino Aldi. Professor Maria Benedetta Gambacorti-Passerini will guide the debate through discussions, interventions and critical insights.

The event will take place in person, if necessary it is possible to participate online by connecting via the following link
