Description

formerly M-FIL/06 History of Philosophy

Also approached as history of ideas, history of concepts, and history and philosophy of culture, this field thematizes philosophy in its origin and developmental process, identifying its theories, terminologies, propositions, and outcomes through rigorous attention to philological-textual evidence and its necessary contextual interpretation. The field includes historical research aimed at theoretical and critical self-reflection on the methodologies of historiographic inquiry. Finally, it explores the disciplinary content and methodologies specific to the didactics of philosophy in relation to the issues it investigates.
At the undergraduate level, this didactic focus aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for teacher training.
