This sector focuses on music as an art form, a science, and a mode of cultural expression, communication, and entertainment across various genres from antiquity to the present day. It addresses musical phenomena through multiple disciplinary lenses: historical, theoretical, philosophical-aesthetic, pedagogical-didactic, philological-paleographical, economic-productive, sociological, and psychological.
The field also engages with the preservation and promotion of musical heritage, examines the role of music in media, and explores the relationships between music and other arts. In addition, it investigates the production, transmission, and reception of music through emerging technologies, including digital platforms.
