Hala Shoman is a Palestinian from Gaza, a PhD researcher in Sociology at Newcastle University, focusing on Palestinian women at the intersection of colonial and patriarchal violence. Her research explores decolonial feminist frameworks, cultural renegotiations of religion and tradition, and social justice in conflict-affected settings.

Beyond academia, Hala has extensive experience in human rights advocacy, gender justice, and social equity projects. As a consultant with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the State of Palestine, she has conducted research on legal systems, domestic violence, and feminist decolonial methodologies, engaging diverse stakeholders—including policymakers, religious leaders, and grassroots activists.

Hala is passionate about facilitating critical discussions on decolonisation, equity, and global justice. She has led decolonial learning workshops and research projects across institutions such as UNICEF, NHS Scotland, and the University of Milano-Bicocca, advocating for systemic change and equitable partnerships.

Her work is driven by a deep commitment to transforming knowledge production, challenging colonial power structures, and creating inclusive and participatory learning environments.
