The increasing presence of digital technologies and social robots in everyday life raises crucial questions about how these systems are perceived, interpreted, and accepted. While traditional models of technology acceptance have largely focused on individual cognitive factors, growing evidence suggests that acceptance processes are also deeply shaped by psychological mechanisms, cultural orientations, and by how social identities are represented in technology and negotiated through interactions with users and those who design and develop these systems.

The seminar aims to foster an interdisciplinary reflection on the acceptance of social robots and AI technologies. Bringing together perspectives from the field of human–robot interaction, social psychology, philosophy of science, educational research, and media and communication studies, it will address the educational and sociocultural implications of the digital transition, connecting empirical research with broader conceptual and methodological discussions on identity formation, inclusion, and social relations.

An event organized as part of the Permanent Seminar "Educational and Socio-Cultural Changes and Opportunities in the Digital Transition" by the CAPTED Research Center in collaboration with the PhD Programme in Education in Contemporary Society (ESC) and the RobotiCSS Lab (Laboratory of Robotics for the Cognitive and Social Sciences) of the same University.
